Boolean Monadic Recursive Schemes (BMRS)

  • A logical characterization of a phonological process includes:

    • Models (representations) that specify the set of elements in a structure, the properties of those elements, and relations between elements;
    • A logical language for making statements about elements in the structure; and
    • an interpretation which defines a function by specifying the elements, properties, and relations in the output structure in terms of logical statements about the input structure.
